“Arctic Blast Ahead: Freeze Warnings Issued.”
I’m not sure whether to crawl back into bed to try and escape the inevitable or call a realtor. More hot tea first.
Cup in hand, I think about the day. My to-do list just got a little longer. Potted plants will have to be brought in. Errands go to mid-afternoon when temps will be highest. The one bright spot – I’m feeling really wise and happy that I bought a new electric blanket two weeks ago. Always pays to be prepared!
But I’m also feeling sad for all the kids looking forward to Trick-or-Treating tonight. It happens so often – temperatures plummet just in time for Halloween. I’m remembering so many years of tromping up the neighborhoods with gloved hands clinging to flashlights and treat buckets, kids either freezing in order to show off their costumes, or wearing heavy coats that cover our cuteness and clever efforts – just going through the motions of collecting candy.
Have to say I’m glad I don’t have little ones on this eve, or an obligation to do an adult dress-up event. Staying in and roasting pumpkin seeds sounds pretty good. So does curling up with a warm cup, a cozy blanket and a good book!
